The new company, Ogre Lord Studios, is now official. The website, ogrelord.com, is also up and running.

All of the K3 stuff is moved over to that site, and the old paths on awesomeplay.com redirect to the new site.

Once we’re a bit closer to having a product, I’ll setup things like forums, mailing list, web shop, etc.

So today was my second SCA practice. The first one I actually got to fight for real at. I most certainly got my ass handed to me. :)

It’s a good workout, and the people at the practice group are absolutely awesome all around. I think I’m going to enjoy being a part of this.

K3 is still coming along. It seems to be going both very fast and very slow. I think I need a mini-vacation from it over the next week, just to have a breather and to collect thoughts and concentrate on other things for a little while. I’ve always found that stepping away from a problem for a little while and coming back is immensely useful.

This weekend was almost like a surrogate Kanar event. I certainly feel as wore out and game-saturated as I usually do after a Kanar weekend.

Between the bought of editing Friday night on the K3 rules, the long discussion Saturday with a co-author and friends, and then fielding questions half the day on Sunday (after going to an SCA practice) and now getting ready to do another bought of editing… whew.

On the upside, people seem to be really into the K3 idea.

Browsing Freshmeat can display some fun oddities with English and people’s ideas of good and bad.

For example, to one person, “safe deletion” of a file means that the file is able to be easily recovered, while to another, it means that it is absolutely impossible to recover the file by any method.

That’s about as silly as the fact that you can use slang to call something “hot” or call it “cool” and mean the same thing.

My usual forum and instant messenger avatar, from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night:

My Avatar

My comment on how cool my new avatar is:

My old avatar used to represent me perfectly. You know, since it was my actual face.

Then I decided that I’d rather be Death with a bad-ass bandanna. I mean, Death. With a bandanna. Totally bad-ass. All he needs now is a big gold scythe on a gold chain around his neck and a low ride, and he’ll totally be pimpin’.

My avatar after Joel gets done pimpin’ it out:

Death is Pimpin'

Notice the fine attention to detail, like the gold tooth. Either Joel has too much time on his hands, or he totally rocks. I say he rocks.

I’ve signed up for a virtual server with TekTonic, and moving all of my server bits off of Moonweaver, my old server I had here at the apartment. The new server, Cometsweeper, will soon (by the end of tomorrow at the latest) be hosting all of my services, as well as a few new ones that I couldn’t host before as Moonweaver is on a Comcast connection.

This blog, if you’re reading it, is already hosted on Cometsweeper. :)

I have only two regrets about this move. First, my favorite hostname is definitely Moonweaver, and it is now being retired. I may resurrect the name with a future server at some time. Second, I have to lose all of my cool single sign-on Kerberos setup. Ah well.

Who wants to host their copy of AweMUD on an iPod?

(No, I am not serious.)
