Sean Middleditch » School
This is going to be my last semester of school, at least for a year or two.
I’m rather burnt out with school, and I’ve decided that it really isn’t doing anything useful for me. Potential employers don’t really seem to be all that interested in whether or not I have a degree. The few who even mention a degree in their job ads state that they’re also quite happy with “equivalent work experience,” which I dare say I have.
This means I get to work more hours, I get more free time for personal hobbies and friends, and if I make the Kanar presidency that I’ll actually have plenty of time to devote to it.
Fairly sure I just failed my Calc3 exam. Couldn’t finish two of the problems. There were only six of them. ‘Tis the suck.
On the upside, I have several brand new shiny bottles of alcohol, which are doing wonders for my mood, if not my motor skills.
I’ve also got a whole new set of hardware for my server, which is in need of updating (the 700mhz Duron and 256MB of RAM just isn’t cutting it under its current workload, especially wrt to compiling large gobs of code for automatic testing purposes) and got my new SATA hard-drive back from Maxtor, so I can finally reinstall my OS and files _properly_ and start installing all those games I’ve been dying to play. Guess that means it’s also time to get another short-term Cedega subscription so I can get the latest version.
In particular, I have Planescape: Torment and Morrowind that I want to play.
I have two hours between classes on Thursdays. That’s a lot of time. Time I could spend doing homework or something useful. Instead, however, being subject to boredom as I am, I tend to spend it shopping.
Just today I have put myself out about another $80.
On the upside, I now own a copy of Porco Rosso and the first Those Who Hunt Elves DVD. And some pocky.
I need to start getting into the habit of coming to the lab (where I am right now) directly after Latin and working on my Calculus III homework. Heck, if I get it done before work is over today, I might even be able to head out and have some fun with friends tonight instead of being stuck behind the computer monitor doing homework.
